2026 (USA, Bhutan) 20 minutes
Directed by: Pawo Choyning Dorji
In Bhutan’s Himalayas, yak herders have long told their children that wherever glaciers rise, snow lions live: mythical guardians whose fur is white as snow and whose manes are blue as the morning sky. The story has taught generations to revere the mountains and understand that all life is interconnected. When legendary cellist Yo-Yo Ma travels to Bhutan, filmmaker Pawo Choyning Dorji weaves his journey around this ancient folktale. Together, they venture to Lunana, one of the world’s most remote settlements, where a young highlander girl longs to hear the snow lion’s roar as glaciers recede before her eyes.
